Welcome to Kenny!
As chair of the Kenny Neighborhood Association (KNA), I want to personally welcome you and your family to your new home and neighborhood.
Kenny is a true Minneapolis neighborhood. Some of your neighbors have just moved in, while others have lived in their homes since they were built 60 years ago – a testament to the strength of this community.
I hope you can get out and enjoy the area as you settle in. There is always something going on in Kenny – at the park, in the schools, and of course on the corner of 54th and Lyndale. There, you’ll find the kids at Freestyle Yogurt and the adults at Starbucks. Make your way down to Grass Lake for some bird watching and a quiet stroll. Minnehaha Creek is always a wonderful place to walk, run, and bike, bringing you right to Lake Harriet or all the way east to St. Paul.
We like to celebrate our community with a series of events. Each spring, KNA hosts the Annual Board Meeting, where neighbors gather to discuss key issues of the day and provide input to the board. In the summer at Kenny Park, we commemorate the solstice with an old fashioned ice cream social and in late July we host Kickin' Back at Kenny -- an evening full of music, food, games and our Kickin' Back Kickball Tournament. And don’t forget National Night Out! It’s a great way to meet your immediate neighbors at your block party. Kenny stays active in the winter too. Kenny Park has a great ice rink and sledding hill, and you can always strap on your Nordic skis and ski down Minnehaha creek.
As you can see, Kenny is a vibrant, lively and engaged community. We are thrilled you are now a part of this great place and we look forward to getting to know you and your family in the years to come.
