Become a smarter gardener this summer! Award-winning garden writer and photographer Gail Hudson shows you how to make some simple, small changes to grow a little more sustainably right in your own backyard and help the planet at the same time. She’ll talk about:
  • Ways to plant more sustainably
  • How to become more “water-wise”
  • “Honey, the lawn is shrinking!” Good, green reasons to reduce the size of your grass patch.
  • Cutting back on gardening with plastic (pots especially!): Can we do it?
  • And how to design a sustainable garden.
Just changing your perspective a little means the future is greener already!

Do-It-Youself Earth Day Clean-up at Kenny Park

earth day9:30 a.m.-Noon
Saturday, April 24

Even though the pandemic prohibits us from hosting our usual Earth Day Clean-up event with activities and gathering together, our Earth still needs to be cleaned-up! The Kenny Neighborhood Community Engagement Committee is partnering with the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board to host a do-it-yourself clean-up on April 24. Stop by the Kenny Park playground by 11 a.m. to have a pre-wrapped treat, grab some supplies (bags, gloves, etc.) and pick up trash/recycling around the park, Grass Lake, schools or anywhere in the neighborhood. Please be sure to wear a mask and social distance- hopefully there will be a lot of great volunteers out there spiffing up Kenny neighborhood and cleaning our Earth for future generations.

Kenny Kid Clutter Pick-Up Drive

Kid Clutter Pickup DriveSpring is here! Clean out all your outgrown kid stuff during the Kid Clutter Pickup Drive in Kenny on April 1-5.

Kid A will pick up your used baby and kid items, and pay for any gear that they will resell. Throughout the Kenny Kid Clutter Pickup Drive, Kid A will use this payment to make a financial donation to the Anthony School PTA. Kid A will also donate all of the kid items that they do not buy to local organizations like Free Bikes 4 Kids MN and Arc’s Value Village.  All kinds of baby and kid items are accepted for donation, from clothing to bikes.

Kid A will donate $5 to the Anthony School PTA for each financial donation that is made.

Turn your kid clutter into community resources in one convenient and safe pickup - reserve a time now (slots are limited), then get ready to declutter!
